Art Lessons for Mrs.Corbitt's Pre-K - 8th Grade Art Classes for the first few weeks of school:
8th - 5th Grade Lessons:
The first art class we will go over the syllabus and expectations of the art room. Then I will share some artistic photos I took when in Europe this summer. Students will see various architecture structures, food, people I saw, and other interesting things I did in Rome, Florence, Tuscany, Italy and London, England and Dublin, Ireland! I enjoy photography and capturing the essence of other cultures.
I have shipping tags students will decorate with various art mediums for their sketchbook!
This will be their "artsy name tag" and their cool "charm" for their personal sketchbook we will use in art class and at home occasionally!
The following class the (5 & 6th Grade) students will work on a collaborative figure and pattern design inspired by artist Keith Haring and the 7 & 8th graders will chose a architectural structure they would want to visit outside the country. We will draw that with colored pencils and go over proportion..
Grades 2nd - 4th: "Getting to Know You Line Sculpture"
We will start off the first art class of the year going over the art rules and expectations to succeed! Then each student will receive a 9 x 9 square paper to design symbols and non-objective design that expresses themselves using markers, colored pencil, and/ or crayons!
The second class students will have trays of neon colored paper strips and they will create an abstract 3D design using various types of line. In the end there will be a 2D design and a 3D design! This lesson was inspired by artist Cassie Stephens!
Grades 1st & Kindergarten- "My 1st Art Class Masterpiece"
I will go over the rules and expectations in my first class! Then students will get to experiment with various art mediums (crayons, rainbow crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc.) to create their first art masterpiece of the year! I explained it could be of a favorite memory of the summer or just a design using line and shape. Students had fun exploring the different art mediums and some even wanted to present their art to the rest of the class!
